If you’ve visited Okinawa then no doubt you’ve seen the cream colored building with the traditional Okinawan tiled roof that looks like several tiled tents or waves but you’ve never been inside to explore what’s there.

Well hidden inside the Akara building is the art gallery of the same name but also a great little Italian restaurant with an ocean view Janosz.

What makes this special is the owner and his food. With a background in architectural design which shows in the building and restaurant he’s put the same passion into the food. The best way to describe the cuisine would be creative Italian with local ingredients, homemade dressings and original sauces.

It’s open as a restaurant every night except Wednesday but what we also found interesting was that you could rent out the restaurant for your parties, events, wedding celebrations etc with custom buffets and also all you can drink options. They’ve also got a projector, microphones and a great sound system as well as ample parking so it’s a good one to add to your list if you’re planning an event and need somewhere with great food, drink and a view!

We particularly recommend the Oxtail braised in red wine and the Okinawan pork steak, very flavorful.
