Have you ever craved some fleshly baked breads or sweet deserts? The German style bakery “Regens” near tropical beach, Ginowan is my favorite place of choice. Regens makes authentic German breads, cakes, desserts and baked Pretzels that have the typical European taste.

Coming into the store you are often invited to try one of their seasonal cakes. A favorite of mine is the Gugelhupf Lemon cake. Gugelhupf is a Vanilla type plain cake. The one I bought had a refreshing sweet- sour lemon glaze and complimented my daily coffee breaks.

Regens also sells jellies, tea, eclairs, different types of cookies, sweet vanilla puddings and chocolates in cute packaging which make great gifts for friends, as well. If you like, you can enjoy your baked goods right there in the Regens Café.

I go on occasional trips there as well to buy a little baked pretzel or bread for a snack on the road. The prices are quite good for fresh bread. I remember that authentic German breads and cakes costs quite a lot in Tokyo so it surprised me to find prices that match other Japanese bakeries. The breads, cream puffs and pretzels start from about 120Yen, the cakes from about 1000Yen and the cheese cakes, pies and fruit topped cream cakes cost around 2000-3000Yen.
