Bistro Luire is a charming restaurant that cooks up Italian and French cuisine using a blend of fresh Okinawan and European ingredients. The eye-catching building is situated on Route 6 which follows the coast between Cape Maeda and Cape Zanpa.
As I entered, I was greeted by the friendly staff and sat at a table in the window where I was shown the drinks menu straight away. The atmosphere was relaxed and I admired the elegant and comfortable decor.
The menu offers an interesting variety of dishes with prices for main courses ranging from 1200 to 2000 yen. My dinner was prepared and served by the very friendly and talented chef and owner Yoichi Ueno who told me he had opened the restaurant just 3 years ago.
First, I tried the cold scallop Genovese pasta, a refreshing cold pasta served with seared Hokkaido scallops and topped with basil and Italian cheese – perfect in the hot weather! Next I had the Bistro Burger; the restaurant’s signature hamburger made with 100% Ishigaki beef. The burger was topped with ratatouille and a combination of mozzarella and cheddar cheese and came with a serving of perfectly seasoned fries. Finally, I was served a beautifully plated dish of roasted duck breast with Italian red wine sauce, roasted vegetables and a cute little fried taco ball.
All the dishes were beautifully presented, the ingredients were so fresh and the flavours were perfectly combined. I had a really wonderful dining experience and will be very happy to return soon!
