It’s 8:30 in the morning, and almost every table at Hale Noa Cafe, both inside and out, is already occupied, which I take as an incredibly good sign. This cute little place close to Araha Beach in Chatan advertises itself as a place for Hawaiian style breakfast and brunch, and opens from 8am to 3pm daily.

So what’s on the menu? The top five dishes, according to the chef, are the Eggs Benedict, which I promptly order, followed by Garlic Shrimp, Kalua Pork and Cabbage, Hale Noa French Toast, and Cornflake French Toast. The Eggs Benedict do not disappoint – and best of all you can choose which toppings you like. I go for one smoked salmon, and one Spam. Both are incredible.

Hale Noa has a number of smoothies on the menu, such as the Ginger Ninja, Power Green, and Berry Berry, along with a variety of decadent pancakes made with guilty pleasures such as Oreos and Macadamia Nut sauce. Breakfast is served from 8am to 2pm and all meals come with a drink; if you order a hot coffee you get one free refill.

Other than the delicious food, the place itself is wonderfully decorated, with a lot of attention to detail. From cat foot prints on the table to the nautical-style wall hangings, Hale Noa is a great place to sit, relax and have a good chat with a friend. For those with little ones, they do have child seats, and a book corner with lots of kids books to use.

While they do not accept US dollars, they do take credit card. Next to the cafe is parking for eight cars. The outside patio has a counter with seating for five, if you prefer outdoor seating.
