If you don’t know if you like katsudon, YOU WILL, after eating at Katsudon no Kastsusato. Barkley’s court’s infamous katsudon restaurant satisfies their customers with huge set meals, a comfortable eating atmosphere and a world full of toppings and extras.

First off: What options are there? Katsudon no Katsusato offers all kinds of fried foods, udon dishes and Curry. Katsudon comes either with a stream fried egg (oyakodon), different sauces (sauce katsudon), with fried chicken or plain. You can go for chicken katsu (breaded chicken) or koroke (fried potato croquettes), Tonjiru soup, fried shrimp or other fish as well, if you really don’t want to order tonkatsu, which is fried pork.

Most meals are served as “donburi” rice bowls or as a teishoku set. I was surprised how big the portions are. A friend of mine got “omori”, a bigger portion of rice for only 100 yen and the bowl was huge. The extras include a curry pitcher, mayonaise, different sauces, cheese or egg which you can add to your meal. The lunch special is a great recommendation- it comes with udon or a soup and rice set and only costs 600-650 yen. You can choose the different types of katsudon. The menu is just in Japanese but there are pictures, so it is easy to choose your favourite donburi. The sauce katsudon I chose last time was crispy and juicy and the extra sauce and mustard I added made the meal just perfect. I really liked the udon as well. The soup was flavourful and but not too strong. I think Katsudon no Katsusato will be my favourite new lunch spot!
